REFLECTION

Throughout pursuing the Global Learning Medallion, there have been drastic changes in my global awareness, perspective, and engagement. Throughout a variety of global learning coursework, I have gained the ability to understand other peoples points of view and assumptions and come to terms with it without overreacting or getting into my emotions. I have come to understand that everyone has their own views and opinions and there is no changing that. Instead, I have come to learn how important civil conversation and open dialogue can be.
I gained a sense of global awareness throughout my study abroad experience, national student exchange and my various involvements on campus. I have learned that so much is going on around the United States and around the world. There are so many common struggles and issues that currently face us and instead of isolating one another or avoiding those problems, people should come together to fix these issues. At the end of the day, there is more that unites us rather than divides us. These issues and problems have encouraged me to become more engaged. I have taken the steps to do my part to solve these problems. Whether that be, getting the word across, or volunteering my time, or fighting for equality and justice.
I plan on being a global citizen until the day I die whether it be in a full-time position pursuing a career in the non-for profit sector. While simultaneously continuing to pursue higher education with a Masters in Global Strategic Communications. I am a global citizen who will continue to serve my community while putting others well-being before my own. Since this will further enhance my global awareness, global perspective, and attitude of global engagement
